About Food and Nutrition

Little Explorers Forest School recognises the importance of children building a healthy lifestyle and believe that nutrition is key to your child’s development.

Our meals are prepared and cooked fresh each day by a qualified and experienced cook. We use a range of organic and locally sourced produce providing well balanced and healthy meals.

Meals times are always happy, unhurried and social occasions where staff and children eat together, and time is taken for conversation and group discussion.

Children are supported and encouraged to participate in the planning and preparation of meals and snacks , this being integral to children learning about healthy eating and where food comes from. Daily make and bake sessions are offered to children where they often make dishes such as fruit kebabs, pizza , salads and savoury snacks.
